Board of Adjustment Board of Adjustment
About
The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals involving decisions made by City staff in the enforcement of Blanchard's zoning ordinances. The Board also considers requests for special exceptions, variances, and zoning uses permitted on review.
When appropriate, the Board may authorize a variance if strict enforcement of the zoning ordinance would create an unnecessary hardship due to unique property conditions, provided the variance is consistent with the public interest and the intent of the zoning ordinance. The Board also conducts public hearings for variance requests.
The City Planner serves as an advisor to the Board.
Board members are appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. These dedicated volunteers generously contribute their time and expertise to help guide land use decisions and support the continued growth and development of the City of Blanchard.
